Water is life: Sanitation is dignity.
One sixth (1.1 billion) of the world population do not have easy access to safe drinking water.
Half of the world population (2.4 billon) do not have access to adequate sanitation.
2.2 million children die every year from diseases connected with lack of access to safe drinking water and adequate sanitation and 6000 children every day.
An average person in the developing world used 10 lirtes of water every day whereas in UK it is 135 litres.
Washing hands with soap and water can reduce diarrhea disease by one third.

GUARDIAN is an acronym of Gramalaya urban and rural development initiatives and network, a micro finance institution (MFI) and a not for profit organization with no capital, registered under Sec. 25 of Companies Act 1956 was came into existence from 6.11.2007 with its Administrative office at Raja colony, Trichy and it was promoted by Gramalaya NGO, which is pioneer in the field of water and sanitation for more than 2 decades in Tiruchirapalli District.

CASE STUDY

Mrs.Nagavalli w/ o Mr.Srinivasan, having 1 male child and 4 female children, of which two of the female children are blind is residing at Keela Devadanam area in Srirangam zone of Trichy District. She says that earlier, she use to take water from her neighbor house by paying Rs.30/- monthly. Though Guardian, uniquely lends for water and sanitation at low rate of interest. So she availed loan from Guardian and utilized for water connections. Now all her family members are happy and able to run the business without any problem. Now she could able to get enough water for her use and also help neighbors to take water at free of cost.

IDS services:

Water.orgl-USA,an international donor agency has come forward to support Guardian in terms of recurring admin cost, basic infrastructures and IDS services.
